Majestic Indoor Garden

Succulents are great plants to have inside your home as they are extremely beautiful to display. They bring life into whatever room you put them in and need very little care to stay alive.

Here are the steps to create a geometric and modern vertical garden shelf.

1 in. x 3 in. x 8 ft. wood board

A mix of around 10 small succulents

Wood Glue

Paint – PPU Back to Nature S340-4 from our 2020 Color Trends Collection

Tape measure

Paint brushes

Carpenter squares (to check the angle of the frame)

Sand paper for uneven edges

Clamps 12 inches (to secure wood and glue)

Hand Saw or Miter Saw

Step 1: Measure and Cut

Measure and mark your wood board using the following measurements, or you can use your own measurements to suit where you would like to place this project.

With the 1 inch x 3 inch x 8 feet board, we made:

2 pieces – 15 inches at 90 degree angles

2 pieces – 10 inches at 90 degree angles

1 piece – 13.5 inches cut at 45 degree angles

After you cut the wood, smooth the rough edges with a piece of sandpaper or sanding block.

Step 2: Assemble

Use wood glue to attach edges.

Use clamps to secure in place.

Repeat on all sides and clamp together.

Once the glue has dried, sand the edges to smoothen and even out the surface.

Step 3: Paint

Paint the shelf in the color of your choice. We used our 2020 Color of the Year – Back to Nature S340-4 from our 2020 Color Trends Collection.  Allow the paint to completely dry.

Step 4: Decorate Box

Now that you have your shelf assembled and painted, stack your potted succulents on each other’s sides inside of the triangular cubbie you have made.

Note: taking the succulents out of the pot may cause the wood to decay.

Step 5: Enjoy!

Place your new shelf on your wall and enjoy the natural and earthy personality it brings into your home!
